Exciting Updates for Inglewood Massage!
So, we at Inglewood Massage have decided to do a bit of upgrading and housecleaning, and we are making some changes! I decided to list them all here, together, instead of bombarding you with them, one by one. All the changes are effective November 1st, to keep it all nice and neat.
The first change is that, while I do like the concept of tiered pricing (different prices for different levels of therapists), I just don't think it really works for a small clinic like ours. It's something that would work better if we had several treatment rooms, and many different therapists to choose from, which we just aren't, right now. Therefore, we are switching back to a rate of $95 for a standard 60-minute massage (plus GST). Now, with experience comes specialized training, and this is where we can recognize those who have additional skills. Specialized types of massage (such as aromatherapy, TMJD and Sports Massage) will be priced a little higher, depending on the training and experience involved.
Tipping is a tricky issue when it comes to massage. Previously, our attitude was, while we don't ask for tips, we will accept them. After looking at the direction that we want Inglewood Massage to take, and that we are a more scientifically-focused clinic, as a team, we decided to eliminate tipping. So, as of November 1st, we will no longer be accepting tips on our credit/debit machine. This is a benefit for those who use insurance, too, as you will be able to claim the entire amount you pay, not just the charge for the massage.
Along with the other price adjustments, we are also edging our member's rate upwards, just a smidge. The new Member's Rate will be $74 (plus GST). While we are still offering a no-contract membership, we are implementing a few limits, just to keep things fair for everyone. If you accumulate more than 3 months worth of credit ($217) on your account, we will automatically put your membership on hold until you are able to use your credit. If this happens again, or if it takes a long time to catch up, we will need to have a conversation with you about if the membership is really the best option to suit your needs, and we'll try to find a solution that does. Keep in mind, too, that removing your credit card from the system does not cancel the membership! For that, you need to send us an email, or tell us when you come in to see us.
While we don't really have any complaints against our current booking system, Clinic Sense, we have come across another system that is comparable, and maybe even offers a few extra options, and yet is almost half the cost! So, we are working steadily towards migrating to the new system, Soap Vault. You won't need to do a thing, just be aware of what's happening, and when the migration actually occurs, you might receive double notifications for a short time. Soap Vault also allows you to log in with a user name (email) and password, so you will be able to view all of your appointments coming up, which will help you make any changes, if you need to. Unfortunately, this will also mean that you will need to do a new health history form, once you are in the new system, but for many of you, it's time to update it, anyways!
With all the other changes going on, we will now be moving our gift card function into the payment system, Square. Once again, you won't need to do a thing! If you have previously purchased a gift certificate for someone, they can use the exact same code they had before! Everything is behind the scenes, so don't worry! If something does go wrong, we will have a paper back-up of our active gift certificates that are still outstanding, just in case!
While we had a brief scare that Gwen might have to leave, due to going back to school, we have found a way to make things work, and he is staying with us! Whew! This means that we are going to be adjusting our schedules to the following:

Tuesday 10:00 am – 1:00 pm
Friday, Saturday 1:00 – 6:00 pm
Gwen Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 2:00 – 8:30 pm
Carly Tuesday, Wednesday 10:00 am – 6:30 pm
Thursday, Saturday 1:00 – 7:00 pm

We are still open to accepting another member to the team, however, that is not a priority at the moment.
