At Inglewood Massage, we believe in not only helping you feel better for now, but in helping you feel better for life! We are a dedicated group of therapeutically-focused massage therapists. We will pay attention to your symptoms, and do our best to dig down to find out what is causing them. We don't believe in "cookie-cutter" treatments, or "fast-food massage". This means that we don't do a lot of full-body relaxation massages in an hour, as it doesn't give us a lot of time to actually accomplish change. That being said, most of our clients leave feeling very relaxed, and able to move!
Kim Umphrey is the owner and founder of Inglewood Massage. She has been a Registered Massage Therapist since 2009, but has been an "anatomy geek" her entire life! Her passion for helping people feel and move better, combined with her knowledge and problem-solving skills, inspired her to open her own office, and she is thrilled daily with watching Inglewood Massage as it grows into a full clinic!
Meet the Team
Meet our awesome team members!
Kim Umphrey, RMT
Founder & Senior Therapist
Works: Mon, Tues & Fri 12:30 - 7:00 pm, Wed 2:00 - 7:00 pm
Kim Umphrey, RMT is the owner of Inglewood Massage. She graduated from the 2,200 hr program at the Atlantic College of Therapeutic Massage in December of 2009, and has loved every minute since! Helping people is her passion, and she is frequently heard to say that, if she ever won the lottery, she would still be a massage therapist! Kim loves the challenge of finding out why a client is feeling they way they do, and not only finding a way that they can be helped, but ways that they can take charge of their own health, rather than being a passive "patient".
Kim has training in: fascia work (myofascial release), sports massage, kinesio taping, dynamic cupping massage, and has a very high level of training in prenatal issues, including prenatal massage for higher risk clients, massage for infants and children, and is trained as a Doula (although her schedule does not currently allow her to work as one). She has assisted in leading prenatal classes, and has taught baby massage to young parents.
Kim has the 2,200 hrs required by most insurance companies to write receipts, and is able to direct bill to almost all of them (see FAQ's for list).
Carly Turner, RMT
Works: Tues 10:00 am - 5:00 pm, Wed 10:00 am - 1:00 pm, Thurs 1:00 - 7:00 pm, and Sat 1:00 - 7:00 pm
Combining her appreciation of the human body and the analysis of its structures, with a belief that intuitive touch can also have a place in the healing process, Carly’s approach to massage is always evolving. This is largely because although most everyone has the same number and organization of “parts” no two bodies are identical and their response to external and internal factors (like stress) allows the therapist to tailor each massage experience.
Integrating myofascial work, trigger-point release and a blend of other therapeutic and relaxation techniques into her regular practice, Carly is keen to develop her skills and explore areas like TMJD, cancer therapy and neurokinetic therapy.
With compassion, education, and growing industry experience, Carly enjoys and advocates for her industry and the massage therapist’s role in properly assessing, treating, and empowering the client in their wellness journey.
A native Calgarian, Carly graduated in June of 2018 from MH Vicars School of Massage Therapy. She has the 2,200 hrs required by most insurance companies to write receipts, and is able to direct bill to almost all of them (see FAQ's for list).
Gwen Evans, RMT
Aromatherapist & Graduate Therapist
Works: Tues - Friday, 1:00 - 8:00 pm, Alt Sat's 1:00 - 7:00 pm
Originating from Fort McMurray, AB, Gwen has always had an appreciation for both the medical and natural health professions, and with a “science first” approach, encourages those around him to find a balance that is right for them. Growing up striving to help others when able to do so, Gwen wanted to have a larger impact in people’s health, and embarked on a journey to become an RMT, graduating in June of 2018.
Prior to beginning his journey into massage therapy, he had worked in the aromatherapy industry (including at The Apothecary in Inglewood, our downstairs neighbors!) and received his certificates in Aromatherapy and Aromatic Kinesiology in 2013. Gwen’s extensive knowledge of essential oils has allowed us to introduce new services, including Aromatherapy Massage, Aromatherapy Consultations, and Gentle Drop Massage (coming soon).
Gwen plans on expanding his existing aromatherapy modalities, as well as branching out into new modalities that will compliment his abilities as a massage therapist, while maintaining his “science-first” approach to his practice.
Gwen has the 2,200 hrs required by most insurance companies to write receipts, and is able to direct bill to almost all of them (see FAQ's for list).
